Does Your Bathtub Leak?
2/4/2022 (Permalink)
We recently received a call from a homeowner that lived in a second-floor condominium. The occupant of the condominium directly above them had filled the bathtub when news of an impending hurricane was broadcasted on the news. What this person did not realize, because they had ironically never used the tub, was that it leaked. There was a small crack that had been repaired years prior, and to the eye, could not be seen. However, when the tub was filled, as a preventative measure should they loose water during the storm, it leaked into the ceiling of the bathroom below.
What did the owners in the condominium below do? Nothing! They waited…..nobody really knows why, but they waited 3 weeks after the storm to discuss the matter with the owner upstairs that had filled their tub. The owner on the third floor was surprised because they did not know the tub was leaking, and the owner on the second floor still had wet walls and a ceiling with a water mark stain. Luckily, this was clean water that leaked for only a few hours until the storm passed, and the bathtub was drained.
However, what damage was done could have been almost entirely avoided had the owner called SERVPRO immediately when the water leak occurred. Waiting is never a good idea when it comes to water infiltration. Get us in and let us get it out! Stop the damage, stop the possible onset of mold, stop any further damage from occurring.
Should you have water infiltration, give SERVPRO of Fair Oaks-Centreville-Chantilly a call today on (703) 830-5800.
