That Darn Lawn Mower!

Heat and chemicals don’t always play nice together! We recently helped a client with a garage rebuild after a fire. Although the fire department was not 100 % sure which chemical products that were in the garage reacted to create the fire, they do know that one of the culprits was gasoline and a hot lawn mower. Lesson from this experience is to always let your mower cool down outside before putting it away in a confined space like a garage. In this case, the garage was small, hot, and obviously contained fertilizer, gas cans, paint, oil, cleaning solutions, etc. How things somehow touch each other or ignite in the air, can sometimes be a mystery but what is not a mystery is the fact that summertime garage fires happen. Should this happen to you, call SERVPRO of Fair Oaks-Centreville-Chantilly on (703) 830-5800 and we can remediate your fire damage and our rebuild team get you back to new in no time.
