Have you heard the latest weather report? We are rolling into fall and it seems like every day the weather is treacherous somewhere in the United States! Whether it is global warming or just good old Mother Nature, there is no denying that fall storms are brewing and unfortunate damage is around the corner for some unsuspecting homeowners. Sometimes even the best maintained homes are susceptible to storm damage. Not really much you can do when a tree is toppled in a storm and falls on your roof. There is going to be damage! What should you do to be prepared for the fall storm season? In addition to having your home in good physical shape, have tarps, duct tape, flashlights, batteries and a stock of water, snacks, and blankets to get you through until help can arrive. Being able to tarp off a leaking ceiling or wall can significantly reduce the water damage caused by a storm as well as helping to retain heat within the home. When there are bad storms, there often is a lack of utilities. If you don’t have the ability to store a generator, then having flashlights, water, snacks, and blankets are a must to have on hand to keep the family dry, warm and hydrated until you are able to safely leave your home.
